Hello, just in case you’re wondering…
After graduating from Art Center College of Design, I landed my first ad job near the corner of 6th Avenue and Spring Street in NYC at Kirshenbaum and Bond. Bill Oberlander and Andy Spade were my mentors, and together with a bunch of other wild young creatives, the place felt more like a pirate ship than an ad agency.
After New York, I had the chance to move to Milan, Italy to work at Bates Italia as a senior art director. In addition to learning how to not embarrass myself speaking Italian, I worked on many of Bates’s clients including Corriere dello Sport, Sant Angelica Beauty, and DeCecco pasta brands.
When I returned to the US, I went to work at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, and became part of the team that helped to launch the Saturn Ion Roadster. At Goodby, my “gear head” side went full throttle, and I worked on every automotive-related client the agency had. From Saturn, to helping to shape the Hyundai and Chevy brands.
In 2015 I joined mcgarrybowen’s newly opened office in San Francisco to help run the Intel account—a big undertaking for a small outpost office. As global group creative director, I helped to create and manage Intel’s global brand advertising campaigns, including the work for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic games. In addition to forging alliances with other mcgarrybowen global offices, I also became a pro at navigating airports and racking up a respectable balance of international frequent flyer miles.
In 2020 I had an opportunity to return to work with my good friends at Eleven, Inc. in San Francisco, where I had worked ten years prior. Taking on the role of creative director, I helped run the Dignity Health and Samsung brands.
Like many of us in this biz, I’m a huge lover of going on production where the real making happens and where sweating the details means everything. I’m always on the hunt for tackling projects that end with great production value. My wife thinks I’m a little obsessive. Fortunately, she, our teenage son, and our scruffy dog, Roscoe, don’t seem to mind.
